Pulse
Pulse explores how an operations dashboard can be information-dense without feeling noisy. A quiet dark surface, a strict type scale and one accent colour reserved for what needs attention.

Challenge
Dashboards drift into clutter: every metric gets a colour, every panel gets a chart, and the thing that actually needs attention disappears.
Objective
Design a product surface where status is readable at a glance, detail is one click away, and the interface stays usable on a laptop screen at the end of a long day.
Strategy
Hierarchy through typography and spacing instead of colour. Neutral panels by default; a single accent for alerts; charts only where a trend matters.
Solution
A component library (panels, metric tiles, trend charts, tables, filters) and three composed screens: overview, queue and incident detail.
Result
An independent concept. No usage figures are claimed. The system is reused in our own internal tooling.
Design and technical decisions
- Eight-column responsive grid with fixed panel heights to prevent layout shift as data refreshes.
- Status tokens (ok, watch, act) mapped to one accent so colour always means the same thing.
- Keyboard navigation across panels and a command palette for the frequent actions.
- Tabular numerals and a mono label font for alignment in dense tables.
